Ok so when I saw the original press release pictures of the sets the first that caught my eye was a new professor McGonagle Minifig! What an improvement! What an improvement!I can't even look at the old one now since I am the new one! The prints are amazing! The new head mold is Gorgeous! And the back dress printing adds so much! The glasses on her face also are so much better! The two other mini figures Ron and Hermione are as good as they've ever been! And the set is a very nice Display piece folded up or unfolded! One thing I would say is that I wish the cup that represents when Ron turn Scabbers into a goblet I wish that that was printed or in a different color to look more of Scabbers color! But overall a fresh new concept and a very well appreciated winter wave! Let's hope we see more than one HP wave a year in the future!
Transfiguration Class is a fun playset. The concept is great for kids because of its play-then-fold-away design. Additionally, you get a good number of characters for a set of this size and loads of accessories. However, as an adult collector, I think the price tag is a little high for what you get. The interior relies too heavily on stickers and not enough on building. Ultimately, I think Transfiguration Class (76382) is a satisfactory set that will appeal more to kids than adult collectors.
Could they have just done classroom-themed playsets, without the need for them being in book form? Most certainly, but I don't think they would be as interesting. Conforming each set to a similar build style offers a uniform feel and a nice sub-collection of sets. The number of Minifigures included in each set is perfect for the size of them and I also like they offer something new for some characters.
the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Moments: Transfiguration Class (76382) is something that's completely different from the usual system sets that we've been getting. I feel these have more collectibility since they can be used as a display piece as well. The main downside are all the stickers that are used throughout, however, I do appreciate the front cover being printed. The price point of $29.99 is a bit on the higher side for what you get.
The transformation between book and classroom configurations is impressive and I think either design is worthy of display, although the reliance upon stickers is somewhat disappointing. The minifigures are brilliant though and I love the new Professor McGonagall in particular.
As soon as I finished building LEGO Harry Potter 76382 Hogwarts Moment: Transfiguration Class, I knew it is not about the strong and weak sides of the set; you either know you need it, or you have no interest in Harry Potter at all. With this said, I can't find a single reason to ignore the set when it is finally available in January 2021.
