It's an average set, but the figures make this set shine. I have no idea what it is, but I know it will have some shelf life.
My son got this for his 6-th birthday and loves it. It was fun to assemble although he needed some help. It assembles in three distinct parts and the parts are bagged accordingly. The three parts then assemble into one whole. The engines pivot so that in the landing position the safe carying the "jewels" is exposed. The mechanism is fun, alhtough a little fragile. It came with four minifigures, which seem to be unique. We had one problem: the doors didn't snap on the lego pieces firmly so they would fall off when opening. I wrote to lego for replacement, I expect them to come. In the meantime, some crepe paper between the doors and the receiving studs seems to have done the trick. The only other caveate is that your child will want more sets.
It looks good, but I'm a little disappointed. The up position has trouble "locking" and I had to add a small plate to keep the engines from going back to "landing position". It's the slider and the friction that's the issue.
I really like this set but the price is a little high for the amount of parts you get. With only 389 pieces, the build time isn't too long so you'll be swooshing around in no time, but at $49.99 it's a tough pill to swallow.
