Millennium Falcon

I had to give this kit five stars. Yes, it's expensive, but it's the Millennium Falcon, in Lego. It's 1254 pieces! And it includes several mini figures! I bought this for my 8yr old son, who has been dreaming of this kit for most of the year. He just finished building it off and on for the past 2.5 days. He was a little discouraged at first, because he was overwhelmed at the scale of the build. I just encouraged him a little, and settled him down to focus. He rocked the whole build by himself, showing me his progress along the way. Since completing it, he hasn't stopped smiling. Worth. Every. Penny. more less

The detailing on the ship is mind-blowing. Just the subtle additions such as the secret smuggling compartment and things like the dejarik board and the training remote make the set a must-buy. There is some weight on it and it feels good holding it. Obviously, it makes a great display piece! more less

This version of the Millenium Falcon is more of a Play-set, something obvious when you look at the profile of the ship, its very flat base making it perfect for outfitting the inside (I will get my old version out and compare the two of them side by side, but this one seems more pronounced than the older incarnation.) more less

As one of the iconic ships of the our beloved Star Wars, any LSW collection would not be complete without a LEGO Millennium Falcon. Of course, it would be great to own the UCS version, but that is something that cannot be practically afforded by everyone. So the next best thing to have is this system-scale Falcon. For those who have acquired the previous '04 version, there is the understandable oprion to pass on this one and just modify their current MF with the updated details, but for those who have missed that set and still has no MF in their collection, this is a definite must-have. more less

If you're a kid you're probably a lot less critical than me, so most of the problems I've gone on about won't matter to you. If I could switch of my nit-picky nerd rage circuit I would be happy to get this for Christmas too. But as a Star Wars fan and collector, this is a poor representation of a classic ship that falls way short of what it should be. more less
