Mater's Spy Zone

Overall, this is a nice little set for Cars' fans. It includes the most popular character (so much so he got his cartoon spin-off line from the first film), a cute spy car in a rare colour, and a bit of background to add to playability. As one would expect, the main goal of this kind of set is to prompt you to buy more, and it has been achieved pretty well. On the other hand, even if I do not expect anybody to go army-building with Agent Mater and Holley Shiftwell, it is a nice and cheap way to get more characters. more less

I had a hard time finding this item which was a Christmas gift for my Nephew. So glad I found it on Amazon. It seemed the local stores had a smaller sellection than previous years. Maybe its the economy and brick and mortar stores are keeping less inventory. Well that might be a mistake. My Nephew and I put this together Christmas day and he liked it. There are stickers you put on the control panel. The car and tow truck are cool. My Nephew was looking for the tow truck character so this fit the bill and bonus with the other sport car and spy set stuff that comes with this product. It does have small delicate parts etc. as a lot of Lego now a days and also custom parts. These small parts can be difficult to keep together and I would imagine get lost in the big Lego box a child might have which makes it difficult to put it all together again. Perhaps keeping the part for a set in a separate baggy may be in order. Hmm, but how to get a kid to do that. more less

It's a boring set and nothing about it screams must-have. If you're bent on getting all the minicars, you can probably skip this one and go straight to Big Bentley Bust-out or Spy Jet Escape since those sets include Holly and Angry Eyes Mater and have more minicars that aren't available elsewhere. more less
