Great toy for kids, and kids at heart like myself. It isn't super complex, but it's not as simple as you would expect. Gandalf the gray and Frodo are included. This is the only way to get Gandalf as he is exclusive to this particular set. The horse is cool, and and the cart is cool too. The old negative thing about this lego set is the fact the Gandalf can't move his head because of his beard... eh, I'm over it. This is the least expensive Lord of the Rings set and the only way to get Gandalf soooooooo... buy this. buy it now. 9/10

The designer had done a good job designing it to be added to your Shire scenery for the wizard's appearance and cute home looking Frodo.

Overall, I think this is an small but excellent set. Fans of Lord of the Rings will love this depiction of the first scene in the movie, and even non-LOTR fans will like this set for the pieces such as the new horse.

Recommendation: no 3.5 / 5 by Allen "Tormentalous" Tran

The set is a well made set that captures the scene in The Fellowship of the Ring almost perfectly. The minifigures are exclusive to this set, although Frodo will have a variant in other sets. The only knock I can give on the set is the price for what you get. The minifigs and the new horse are the main attraction. I would recommend picking it up but try to wait for a sale first.

If you're as big a freak for LEGO LOTR as I am, you want to buy this set. If you're only in it for Gandalf, I'd recommend you find the figure elsewhere for less money. It's a nice set, but there are far nicer ones in the line.

There isn't really much more to say about it: it's small, cute and if you buy only one LotR set, make it this one.

It's a quaint little set, well worth the US$12 that it costs. I got mine from Australia and I think it costed around AU$17 if I recall correctly from Big W during the Toy Sale. Overall, it's a pretty swell set, design and build of the wagon aside – you get quite a decent selection of parts (book and envelope stand out here!), two exclusive minifigs and Gandalf steals the show. Add one of the new horses in and you've got pretty decent value in a set. A nicer staff for Gandalf and more fireworks in the wagon would've made this the perfect small set, but other than that minor complaint – I'm pretty happy with the set.

It's a charming, peaceful set that may turn off some kids who are interested in an action or conflict-oriented experience. It's as superb rendition of Gandalf's initial appearance from the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring and each element on its own is great: the cart, the horse, and the minifigures. But, at $13 it's a sparse set and difficult to justify paying full price for.
