I enjoyed this set very much and being the first LEGO LOTR set purchase that I have bought. This set had successfully crossbreed and deliver the army building battlepack requirement and also allow the rest of the playing set like the structure and vehicle to be integrated to the bigger playset for a greater playability and modular connecting purposes.

This is my daughter's favorite LOTR Lego set so far, and she's thirteen. Not only does it have a good deal of mini-figures for play once the set is complete, but has freestanding weapon to boot. It certainly wasn't the most challenging set she has put together by far, but the catapult actually works and rolls, and there were plenty to figures to wage a battle with once it was completed. The castle stands easily, even on carpet. I would recommend this set for any LOTR fan, Lego collector, and anyone who enjoys interactive play, "big" kid and "little" kid alike.

I really like this set. The builds are nice – the ballista is a bit unfinished but I quite like the Helm's Deep wall section. The play value is there too, which is also helped by the minifigures. The size of the models is a bit small for the price, but the inclusion of 6 minifigures and a horse definitely make this set feel worth it.

It's a neat set and one that will be worth picking up multiples of. $35 doesn't seem too bad for it, although it'll probably be £35 in the UK which will make it a bit on the expensive side.

I'm kind of bored with a good chunk of this set. It really just doesn't seem like anything special, and it is priced to really move at $30USD. The licensing fees are really killing the price points on these, more than I feel the Star Wars ones ever have. But let's be honest, you and everyone else is probably looking at this set for the figs, and these ones are great, even if they only come with stodgy old Eomer.

With six highly detailed minifigures, a bit of wall, and a ballista, this set is a great introduction to the Lord of the Rings line, even though it doesn't come with any members of the Fellowship. I'm sure a great many of you plan on buying the whole Lord of the Rings line no matter what I say, but if you want a larger orc army, this is a fantastic way to get it.

We get some outstanding value in this set. Six figures, all good army builders. This might be the only set I've ever built where I actually approve of flick-fires (though it'd be cool if there was string or something attached to them), and the bricks you get with the wall make for some outstanding castle-building parts.
