If you're into city building, or want to add some great buildings to your train layout (or really, just want to build some cool stuff) this book is for you.

Parts lists do not have part numbers nor text descriptions, so you're left to count pegs and guess colors on the often muddy pictures of the parts. Parts lists downloaded from the publisher's website are the same. That's a shame, because many of the designs look fun to build. But unless you already own an extensive collection of Legos, and have it well-organized, ordering the bricks for these models is really tedious.

The LEGO Neighborhood Book is a very good resource especially if you're new to building modulars. Even if you're already familiar with the modular building, you can probably learn something new that you didn't know before.

This is another great book from No Starch Press. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interesting in designing their own ‘modulars', especially builders like myself who have never built any of Lego's sets.

Overall, there's probably little here that will be new to a veteran builder, but to the novice or intermediate builder, I can easily see this book becoming an invaluable resource. It's a very nice book, and would make a great gift for someone who's just beginning to get back into the LEGO hobby.
