My son loves this item he chose it himself and has spent hours playing with it and making up stories.
My 17-month-old daughter loves airplanes. Every time we are outside and we see an airplane she points and says "Airplane! Airplane!". So, I thought this would be a great toy to encourage hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and time to pretend. I was right. She loves the little wrench and the little pilot. She works the blocks easily and loves to snap the wheels onto the plane and take them off again. She's a few months under the labeled age suggestion, but we do supervise her when playing with this making sure she doesn't put any of the pieces in her mouth. As with my personal experiences with Lego as a child in the late 70s and early 80s, the plastic is high-quality and the colors are bright. Considering that she loves taking the airplane with her on car rides and on stroller rides, I think we'll see many hours more of play out of this set and that it will be only the first in her growing Duplo/Lego collection.
This will engage beginner builders in creative building play and storytelling. Kids will like pretending to fly the little plane and rebuilding the pieces in many different ways. The set is small, though, and while fun on its own, it would make a nice addition to a larger Duplo collection.
