Many of the sets I've built recently like #71043 Hogwarts Castle are truly exception; this may be a golden age of great sets for adult builders. LEGO's #21318 Tree House is no different. From the story behind the set and its designers, as it evolved from an IDEAS submission to a real set, all the way to its environmentally friendly parts, this set has it all. When looking at the price for what you get this immediately screams value for money. Unfortunately, this value is dampened a little bit by an extremely weak selection of minifigures, with limited rarity or uniqueness. Not to worry, you can always suplement with figures from other sets in your collection.
I cannot really fault any aspect. It is comparably priced with other sets of this size – helped by the lack of licensing I am sure. I recommend this set. Its beautiful to look at, and uses interesting techniques, and is a great source of brown, nougat and dark orange bricks and plates, as well as foliage elements.
This set is another easy favourite of mine. It was a very enjoyable build, although it did take some time! I was building it for the better part of a day. The price is not too crazy, either. It's a big number, but it's a big set. I'm absolutely thrilled with this one. It's strong, stunning to look at, and will remain high on the wanted list of many LEGO fans for a long while to come.
Definitely one of the coolest Legos kits I've ever bought. My 12 yr old went nuts when he opened this. Took him a couple days and was totally worth the $$. Looks awesome!!!
This set is easily one of the best I've ever purchased. It's a beautiful yet challenging design with many unique and creative techniques that both delights the builder and provides inspiration for your own creations. The ability to switch between seasons provides for a more customizable experience and would make for the perfect addition to any city diorama. I highly recommend adding this set to your collection while you can.
The Tree House is a solid purchase. Firstly, you get a set at an excellent value, even at full price. Secondly, it comes with loads of build time, details, and accessories. As a display set, you cannot go wrong. As a playset, kids will get hours of entertainment. Conversely, the only downside is a somewhat lack luster Minifigure selection, and a really bad brick-to-fig ratio.
Having built this set I really want to shoot myself… with a shrink ray, so I can crawl inside it and live there forever. It begs to be played with and for grand stories to be told. The attention to detail, 360° play access and strength make it a charming and imaginative model. Adding green grass, nougat walls and dark blue roofs into the colour scheme is an improvement on Kevin's version I feel, creating contrast and making the model appear more dynamic.
Overall the LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) is a pretty decent set for the price point. It is a great display piece and there are a lot little details inside the cabins as well as on the tree itself and on the ground level.
I must admit I didn't pay the original Ideas project that much attention, but the resulting set is great fun to build and looks amazing once complete. The level of detail across the set is quite impressive, from hidden secrets within the base to all the mod cons inside the cabins. It's just one of those sets that make you smile each time you look at it.
It is hard to imagine the LEGO Group ever revisiting this subject matter and improving on it, 21318 Treehouse is sure to make ‘best LEGO sets of 2019' shortlists. The set is packed with whimsical charm, looks excellent on display and is an awful lot of fun to build.
21318 Treehouse is an outstanding LEGO Ideas set. It looks absolutely spectacular on display, featuring exceptional detail across its exterior and similarly intricate highlights inside each cabin. Furthermore, the harmonious combination between organic design and fabricated structures works beautifully and I think the enjoyable building experience reflects that.
