I am an adult builder that prefers the simplier (vs. Expert) city buildings. This was a fun build. Very colorful. A nice edition to the non-expert City sets. Hope that LEGO continues to add more such buildings aimed at adult builders!
The creator town house toy store is truly a wonderful building with its beautiful medium azure color and interesting shapes. The most impressive thing is the way that the designer integrated various textures in a very ordinary way with ordinary parts to make a building that is all but ordinary. I definitely recommend this set as a play place, a display piece or an addition to a city.
ownhouse Toy Store is a nice set. It comes at an excellent value, and the only major drawback is the limited Minifigure selection. Both adults and kids hoping to build up a LEGO® city will find a use for this building. I like it marginally less than the Townhouse Pet Shop and Café, which is concurrently available in stores.
The primary model was by far the best build and could easily be expanded and improved upon if you are looking to add this set to a street layout. All the builds have removable roofs, and with the primary build you can split the floors for easy access and playability. Structural strength in all the builds is pretty good, though the mini-builds above the doors of each shop are easy to knock out of alignment during play.
Thankfully, the main model in LEGO Creator 31105 Townhouse Toy Store is entirely worth the asking price. Anyone looking for a quick fix to tide them over until the next Creator Expert modular building is released should pick this set up and build a delightful little toy shop.
So, compared with the 31097-1, I must say it's just not as great. But considering it has only half the number of parts, makes up a lot. For a €39,99 set, you get 2 great models. The flower shop is not really working for me, but that can be just a personal opinion. And even when you don't like the models, the parts in this set are a good combo to create your own design. So, in short: If you want to expand your city, and don't have the budget or room for a modular, this is a good buy.
The Creator line of sets is never going to contain LEGO's flagship models. They're simple, easy, and fun for a quick build designed to spark your imagination into creating something more, and this set is no exception. It may not have the glamour, detail, and part count of its larger Creator Expert cousins, but it also doesn't have their price tag. It's a great starting point into the world of LEGO modular buildings, and is overall a compact but well-designed little set.
This miniature modular is full of surprises with the little micro builds and wonderfully designed exterior and interiors. I wasn't prepared nor expected to enjoy such a simple set, but it did bring out the best in the end. Now comes the big question: is this worthy of a purchase? I personally feel that if you've been following the custom creations featured on The Brothers Brick over the years, and are itching to learn a trick or two on designing your own creation, you'll need to start somewhere. And as a 3-in-1 set, it also includes instructions to build two other models: a cake shop and a flower shop.
What I actually found was an amazing little set, with a surprising amount of detail, even the alternate builds of this set were almost as good as the lead model. I would even go as far as saying of all the sets I've built so far in 2020, this is favourite. I love all the small details which add architectural features both inside the building and over the exterior.
