Say what you will about marketing to girls... BOTH of my twins adore Lego Friends. One is more girly and one is not that into pink & frills but they both love the girl-centered scenes and characters. They have enjoyed these since age seven (now nine). They can follow the instructions without any help and enjoy them a lot. The adventure camper is one of the coolest and since we do a lot of camping, it is right up their alley. Parents of boys, there is no reason you can't buy them Lego Friends too... just have them use a boy figure instead if they want.
The overall design is strongly in favour of extra playability, but has some flaws in the build itself. Obviously the designers were trying to come up with a new camper design, different from the 2009-City one. This way, the built caravan gives an impression of partially finished model and offers some space for improvement. Nevertheless, target audience likely is not as peaky as slightly older, and the playability options surely prevail in favour of the build. Altogether, this set is a nice addition to the Friends series.
