Olivia's House

Actually, the adults in the house have been having fun helping her put it together. She got it as a 6th Bday gift and I made the mistake of letting her open it all up UNSUPERVISED, so she opened all of the numbered bags and put all of the (I don't even know how many itty bitty pieces- felt like a thousand or more!) into a pile on her floor. Let's just say it is now taking us longer to put it together than it would have otherwise. The only reason I rated this with 4 stars is because it was made in China, not the U.S., which I think is silly. Seriously, LEGO co., you can't make just a little less profit on your expensive plastic pieces and keep more jobs in our country? Ahh well, as long as we consumers keep buying them even though they're made in China, they'll keep raking in the profits. more less

I had so much fun building this and I was excited at every turn to move onto the next part. There's very little repetition, and all the steps are logical without being too simple or too fussy. The manner of the instructions was exactly the same as any other set I've built; there was no dumbing down whatsoever, and yet again TLG have included a small amount of Technic pieces in an ostensibly girly set. Bravo TLG. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable build, and one of my favourites since 5770 Lighthouse Island. more less

Overall, this was a fun way to spend an afternoon. The instructions were easy to follow (an important feature for me) and the model offered nice details like flowers and a garden that I wish I had in my own yard. more less

This house is completely designed for interaction and customization, and certainly not with the silly levers and numerous catapults from some of the other lines. There's nothing to pull to make a mini-figure drop, and nothing to fling. And it's totally fine. I don't miss any of that. I'd describe it best as a “build your own dollhouse" with the LEGO edge to it. more less
