I think it does a great job of evoking the Harry Potter universe, in particular the exact scene it's trying to emulate. An interesting parts list and some nice little bonuses do a good job of offsetting the steep price. Would you display it alongside your other HP sets? Probably not, but I'd keep it intact anyway.
My family has a lot of fun playing this game. The reason it is for ages 8+ is that it can take quite a bit of strategy and the ability to see things spatially. But you can make it easier for younger kids, I would think or else play it without trying to use strategy to make a more even playing field. The interesting thing about the game is you can play it by their rules or by your own rules. The game gives you Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Dumbledore, and Mrs. Norris pieces to use in making up your own rules. We tried their version using Dumbledore, but we felt it wasn't much different. Then we tried their version using Mrs. Norris, and it was much harder. You can play it with up to 4 people. The more players, the harder it is.
