This is a fun and buildable countdown to Christmas that will be fun for kids who like building with LEGO Friends. Kids will like the surprise of opening the doors to see what mystery set they're getting, and it gives them something to play with even after the holiday season is over. For those who have been collecting the LEGO Friends Advent Calendars, this new one will be a must-have with its set exclusive accessories. But it's also just a lot of fun for any kids who likes LEGO Friends, whether or not they've ever done an Advent Calendar before.
This is an awesome idea and I knew immediately that I needed to get it for my daughter. I was right, she loves it... except the instructions are horribly placed. The paperboard that covers each hole is really stiff and not perforated well... the end result is that the door itself and the surrounding paperboard tear - a lot. The issue is that the instructions for each package inside the door is on that paperboard door that just ripped. :-/ After needing to tape the instructions back together each night, I finally just opened them all myself and abandoned the idea of opening them daily.Save your money - move along...
I love the idea of this set and my girls love to open a new set each day, but, the Lego Friends calendar needs some improvement. I have been buying my girls the Lego City set because it has much better builds every day and the kit has more pieces for the same price (290 versus 218). The city set has a Santa and his sleigh, a snow mobile, pretty lamp posts, an oven with cookies, plus more. Lego, I appreciate the Lego Friends set, but please up your game and put some more interesting builds besides pots and pans and grilling chicken legs.
With all those fun builds and accessories, your Heartlake City must be perfectly decorated for Christmas by now!
The Friends advent calendar is one that tends to polarise people (pun intended). It can be hit and miss, which is exactly what we've seen this year. There's been some great builds, and some terrible ones, but for parts like what we've got today, I'll be coming back every year to pick one up.
