This review is for the Friends calendar specifically. I wish the reviews weren't aggregated for all three sets.I get this advent calendar for my daughter every year. This is the first year I can recall (and I may be wrong) where it doesn't come with a minifig/Friend. Sure she has tons of minifigs that she can use with these things, but opening the minifig on day 1 and then using it with the rest of the set is one of her favorite parts. I suspect she's going to be a little disappointed. I am disappointed with LEGO's decision to not include a figurine in this set.
LEGO Friends fans will like the surprise of opening a door a day to see what's inside (kind of like 24 days of unboxings!) and getting crafty with what they build or just adding the holiday-themed models to their LEGO Friends construction sets for more creative storytelling and play.
With hindsight, this seems to have been a brave move from TLG- The spread of opinions between one star and five is extraordinary. I'm throwing my hat in because I really liked it- The builds show imagination and are very keep-able. This is very much more an advent calendar than the tired old Star Wars concept where we just get a bunch of micro-builds that are very much the same as last year, and the year before, and the year before that. I can see that TLG is struggling to keep the advent calendar theme going and wish you luck in finding a formula that works for everybody.
