When I was growing up, Legos were “for boys.” And even thinking back to the past 5 years or so when I've been toy shopping for my own kids, the Lego aisles at the stores were usually not “girl-friendly.” I'm so glad this is shifting a bit. My kids have watched the Lego Friends show on TV a handful of times, but they're more interested in toys. My daughter isn't so much interested in the characters as she is in building a big, beautiful, fancy boat. This is every bit a quality Lego set. The pieces are separated into numbered bags so you don't get overwhelmed. While we've worked other sets that actually break the instructions down into separate booklets, this set only has one large one: but it's classic, easy-to-follow Lego instructions with large pictures. As a parent, I especially appreciate the separation of pieces into more manageable chunks. It keeps the kids from getting overwhelmed and frustrated, and gives me the opportunity to stop the activity when we need to.
This has become my favorite Friends set. It looks and feels bigger than any other Friends set, despite not being the largest in number of parts. The new Vibrant Coral looks great. Loads of play features. My daughters (9, 7 and 3) really love this model.
Well, to put is shortly: This is now my new favorite Friends set. It looks amazing with the Coral, Dark Turquoise and Dark Blue color scheme. The attention to detail is high, with a lot of play features. The ship itself is very sturdy. You can easily pick it up and move about.
