Overall, it feels like this set combines the best aspects of Technic kits (robustness, well proven functions) with the looks of a much more refined moc, and all for the same price as the inferior, uglier 9398. LEGO themselves can't have made any money with this; they didn't want to: it's a halo product created by a fan for the fans. If you can afford it, I'd still recommend it, for opening up and building! Remember, investments can go down as well as up, but when this bubble bursts we'll still have a very enjoyable model.
The design on this truck/muscle car really does a lot more for me than the SUV style original model. The build was thoroughly interesting, and the functions are quite fun. I can see myself using this quite often.
This is an awesome set with a lot of playability. I got third party tires and a 8878 battery box to make it perform better. Currently my favorite set. If you don't have it yet but want it, then buy it now because the price is not going down.
In summary, it's a great looking model, packed with functionality, but ultimately, playing with it is a bit disappointing.
