This is the first time I purchased/used Lego in almost 30 years. Having watched a documentary on TV I started getting inquisitive again thinking is Lego for me, and how right I was, love it. Having a logical engineering mind and looking for something fun yet challenging I started looking at the Technic sets. So I eventually took the plunge and purchased the Volvo as it basically had lots of pieces, good reviews, good design, looked a challenging build and even had power features with it. I built the model over 4 days, probably in the region of about 10 hours total and I loved every minute of the build process. The instruction manual was really good and easy to follow, and I was actually quite sad the build had to come to an end as I enjoyed following each of the steps. But then when I switched on the power and the unit was active it really was like Xmas again. I could not stop smiling. Looking forward to building the B model at some point too which is what makes these sets good value as you get 2 challenges in the same box. The satisfaction and fun I had building this model was so addictive I went and purchased the enormous Mercedes Arcos Truck (42043). Yes these are expensive, but IMO they are worth it. Looking forward to the next build now, and future new Technic sets. Lego is simply brilliant.

Overall, I'm very grateful that a Technic designer has a mate who works for Volvo (true story – it's why this exists) and it deserves it's place at the top of the range. Like all good RC vehicles, it's excellent for spooking the dog.

The LEGO Volvo is nothing short of spectacular! I might even go out on a limb by claiming that this is one of the coolest LEGO Technic models....ever! If not THE coolest! True, there are better looking models. True, there are technically more advanced models. However, this models combines a lot of factors, like playability, looks and the sheer size is stupendous. Adding the Volvo brand and stickers is the icing on the cake.

This was a fantastic build, especially at the $199 discounted price (this means it's likely selling out?). I'll grab it before it goes out of production!I also upgraded the tires using these 1.9" Milspec ZXL tires which I thought looked more authentic and are bigger as well. This required only a very small and easy modification to the front fenders shifting it back one space and retains complete functionality!http://www.amazon.com/MIL-SPEC-ZXL-1-9-Tire-2/dp/B0163N3YF0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463506534&sr=8-1&keywords=milspec+1.9+tire
