Gift was for grandson's 9th birthday and was on his wish list - he loves it.
I bought this set to make the combination model for 42059 Stunt Truck and this set 42058 Stunt Bike to make the Power Racer. This was a fun model to build and fun to play with. The colors match very well together. The pullback motor works very nicely. The jump-ramps are a nice addition. The 40th anniversary pieces are very cool and have nice and useful prints for any MOC makers out there. The shape looks very cool. The stickers many stickers were annoying to put on. However, once they are on they look pretty good. This set has an amazing play value. It is durable enough to survive wall bashings.
Meh. Loads better Technic for less money.
If you're looking to start off in Technic building or you're looking for a gift for a child ready to make the step up from City, Star Wars or Ninjago, you could do worse than the colourful and be-stickered 42058. You could also do a lot better.
The stunt bike has a cool sleek look as well. Unfortunately it has a 3-gear drivetrain connecting the pullback motor to the rear wheel, and this juts out significantly (by 2 whole beams). In addition, one of these gears is bright red, and overall the gear train really, really hurts the look of the Stunt Bike.
If you have already got a Technic Racer or two and loved them, then this is more of the same and you will want to pick it up, especially as it is the only Technic bike at this size. However, if you have been there and done those, it really offers nothing new and will likely be an easy pass.
