Recommendation: meh 4.5 / 5 from 375 reviews

This is our first advent calendar. We wanted to start a new tradition and since we love Legos, this was perfect! My only issue is that if you are new to Lego advent calendars, it would be easy to mistakenly open the entire box and mess up the order of the pieces inside. You are only supposed to cut open the tape that holds the "flap" which is the floor of the city. Also, the numbers are very scattered and it takes me a while to find the flap of the number I'm on. I also wish you opened the flaps counting down to Christmas instead of opening the flap with the number of the corresponding day you are on. Lastly, the flaps are a bit difficult to open. I have to use my nail and gently pull the flap along the perforation. The upside is the cuteness of the little characters and scenes make me forget about all the difficulty I've had. I'll probably upgrade to the Star Wars one next year.

Recommendation: no 4 / 5

LEGO fans will enjoy this buildable countdown to Christmas. Kids will really like opening up the calendar doors to see what they get to build next. It makes a nice gift for the holiday season, but the mini kits can be added to a kid's existing LEGO collection and played with all year long.
