Coast Guard Starter Set

About what I expect from a starter box. The big red rescue board is especially fun, since the shark easily fits on it. An easy build with rather few parts, but the minifigures certainly up the value. more less

This is a cute, creative little set. My son particularly wanted it because of the lego shark. One of the characters has two faces so he can look normal or you can make him look scared when the shark comes. The lego people can ride the surf boards and the vehicle. It is a quick build and easy for even little children to do. It's a nice little add on to any other play set. The product came in box with no damage. All the pieces were operational and none were missing. more less

The Coast Guard Starter Set is a fun little build, and I do like the overall product. It comes with some nice Minifigures and a shark, and an excellent brick-to-fig ratio. The design of the builds is simple, yet still fun. However, this set is really expensive for what you are actually getting. In all my reviews, this set has had the worst build-time value. You are also paying the typically high price per brick seen in the City theme. If you have this set on your purchase list, you should wait for a sale. more less

It's easy to negatively judge a set of this size, dismissing it straight away as there are certainly far more exciting sets out there. That said, I found myself quite enjoying it once I'd built it five minutes later. Starter Sets serve as a gateway to discovering the wider theme and this has some nice qualities to it which will almost definitely leave the builder wanting to experience more from the Coast Guard range. more less
