This is not a beginner beginner lego kit, but it is not difficult either. My 5 year old lego lover was able to build it by herself in about an hour. Her 3 year old brother needed some assistance, but was able to complete it in about double that time. The kids have most enjoyed playing with it now that it is built. The truck really drives and the boat really floats. They are most pleased that the helicopters and speed boats from their lego 3 in 1 creator kits fit on the trailer without issue (they like to mix kits). The shark from the 3 in 1 kit fits too, for when they are playing aquarium rescue. I like the legos that my kids want to play with after they are built and this kit definitely encourages play. The boat is mostly 1 big pre-molded piece. That makes building it a little less fun, but it is also what enables it to float so I can't complain too much.
