This service station is great! It has so many features and cool vehichles. The conveinence store itself Is small but It has a nice small coffee machiene and a table. The beach bus as some would call it is more like a motor home with a small refrigerator, a stovetop and a place to sit down. The normal car Is a small normal car. The place where you fill up the real gas is great and has alot of details. This is an amazing set.
As a service station, this model is not the LEGO Group's finest, although it is by no means a dud. Fans will just wish it were a bit more substantial. The vehicles included in the set, however, are better than those included in other recent service station sets. Ultimately what may swing the decision for many collectors is that this set feels about 10-15% more expensive than it should be.
I'm 50/50 on the finished model. I think the vehicles are awesome, great additions to the LEGO vehicle world. But the shop really lets the set down. On it's own, as a playset, yes it's good enough. But compared to older variations on a service station it's really painful. Then when you see the price tag of $49.99 it really makes you think why LEGO thought this was worth that much. At 14c per part it sits on the more expensive side and it feels it. They needed another 50-100 parts to finish the shop, or they should have made the set $5-10 cheaper.
City sets which contain buildings have become increasingly scarce during recent years, hence I was somewhat disappointed when 60257 Service Station was revealed. This set contains 354 pieces but only 111 of those are dedicated to the structures and they are accordingly bland, especially when any comparisons are drawn against 60132 Service Station which felt much more substantial and cohesive.
This is a great LEGO City set, with bags of playability if kids are into cars. Ok, there are few real “play features" included, but there are two decent vehicles which are good fun to put together and then scoot around. Personally I also think it's great to see the depiction of electric vehicles as a “normal" everyday thing rather than some piece of exotic technology. Add in a nice selection of minifigures, and the cutest dog ever, what more do you need? For the price, this feels like a decent value City set, and a positive addition to the LEGO streets.
