I think this is a great set! For me, it's one of the best sets this year and I can highly recommend it!
Overall, this set is great, but I would buy the Wolverine set first since the Wolverine set is cheaper by $10 USD and includes 3 exclusive figures (just like this set). But still, the pieces in this set are great and the same goes for the $30 USD price point.
Spider-Man's Doc Ock Ambush is a pretty good set for the value. All the minifigures are exclusive to the set until next year when we'll be getting Spider-Man in a couple more sets. The build was extremely easy and there were also a few nice spare parts. The set has some very nice playability features to it but Doc Ock's vehicle seems out of place.
It's not the greatest Spider-Man set (it's based on The Ultimate Spider-Man after all), but it's still pretty good. For a fair and affordable price, you get Spider-Man and two other characters which are exclusive to this set (at least for now) along with a neat lab and a little car, so unless you really hate The Ultimate Spider-Man or mad scientist labs, I recommend getting it (if you can find it in stock anywhere). If you just want a Spidey minifig, I would probably skip this one though, because rumor has it that he will be available in an even cheaper set next year with two much more desirable characters, Venom and Nick Fury.
My son and I derived very little enjoyment from the set, but Spidey has been hanging with Shelob and the Hobbits for a week now and he's still a hit. I wish I could've loved this set, but I don't and in the end it barely squeeks into the like catagory.
