I purchased these and they work great- my kids were super excited to scan them into their nexo knights game to gain additional powers. But then it dawned on me that the app is essentially just snapping a picture of these shields- surely someone has put them online? And yes, yes, lots of people have put them on youtube for free for you to scan (both individual shields and combo powers). Just pause the video, scan and your kids will be in heaven when you beef up their game with all of the powers.

While I don't *get* exactly what the Wave 1 Shields are good for in the Merlok 2.0 game, we've managed to collect all but two of them, and the children seem to really enjoy the app as well as the NEXO KNIGHTS theme in general. Being old as dirt, it's not quite my bag but they're happy. As long as you have access to lego.com, finding the Blind Bags is all-but guaranteed; I've bought them everywhere I've come across them at retail as well as on lego.com. Of course we have doubles but the boys have either traded those or combined the duplicates on that three-point Combo Power shield which seems to make them extra excited so I have to assume it's good for something. I also gave bags of Shields away as guest gifts at a party we had. In short, it's good and harmless fun. And when the excitement of the Merlok 2.0 game has faded, they'll always be LEGO parts to use with something else. Plus, when you combine the Wave 1 shields with all the shields you get in the other NEXO KNIGHTS sets, it makes for an impressive collection. All hail the Power of Ice Cream!

Recommendation: no 3 / 5 by Richard

I love the new NEXOgon, and look forward to experimenting with them a little more. Each battle suit figure also comes with one of these combination plates. The game has lost a bit of its appeal for me over the last few months, and I am wondering if these packs are an attempt to breathe new life into the game; inspire collectors, distribute the new piece or a bit of everything? I did however appreciate the fresh 12 powers to scan when I opened the packets. It is nice to be able to have a physical shield for the powers you have otherwise scanned off the computer screen or other sources.
