Wrestling Champion

I've said this before, but LEGO has continued to step up their game with the Collectible Minifigures theme and Series 15 (71011) does not disappoint. There are some minifigures that are more sought after than others but I see every single one of them having a place somewhere in the LEGO universe and in many MOCed themes. more less

The parts assortment is below average. I recall seeing that pearl gold trophy around and is not exactly a new part either. The hairpiece is pretty ruggard looking and I probably use it for my Barbarians minifigures. more less

So my overall thoughts are its a damn good series I think we only got 4 weak minifigures, the rest were high quality. My top 4 were the farmer, Animal Control Officer, shark suit guy and the wrestler. Each time you wonder what LEGO can come up with next and yet they continue to really impress me. I love new elements that can be used in my own creations and series 15 is packed with them. more less

I was never a fan of professional wrestling but even I can admit that this figure is everything that 80s wrestling used to be... It's not for me, but it's another example of a perfect figure for what it is. more less

The Wrestling Champion has all the trappings of a good minifigure – based on a very popular pop culture phenomenon that most (male) LEGO fans will likely fondly remember. It won't blow you away or be an instant classic, but it's a great enough character to warrant 3 stars. Also, that mullet is amazing. more less

It is worth mentioning that there are five female figures here to the eleven males, which is a fairly standard ratio now even though there are plenty of opportunities to make it an even split. The handicap guy is something fans have responded to well, pairing well with the upcoming wheelchair figure. The Shark Guy is pretty fun. We get a couple of animals. Everyone has their favorites, though most of the popular figs come with large odds in favor of fans. Basically, there is a little of something here for everyone, which is the best thing to be said about any Collectible Minifigure Series. more less

This fig doesn't do much for me either, but then again I've never been into wrestling. That mullet hair piece should prove handy in a future animation or diorama though. This fig also has double shot legs, in a quite bright blue. And everyone likes to get trophies. more less
