Compared to the previous DC Collectible Minifigure Lines (both based on the Lego Batman Movie), this new lineup featuring more characters from the DC Universe stands out. The prior lines were good, but generally pertained to characters from the Batman theme. For the purposes of this review, I received the Joker in my blind bag. Lego decided to give us the Joker as he appeared in "The Dark Knight Returns" comic series. He came with neat accessories (cotton candy and a Joker playing card), which look fantastic. I'm looking forward to collecting the fifteen other minifigures in the line, though I'll probably do this in person due to the nature of the CMF's blind bag concept. It should be noted that you may receive multiples of the same figure when ordering from Amazon.
As for the minifigures we do get in this wave, they aren't bad looking at all. Some of them are highly detailed but some are pretty plain but accurate to the source materials.
If you're a DC fan, then you're definitely going to want to pick up this entire series, as it will be a quick and easy way to add some really cool comics history to your minifigure collection. I can only imagine that Marvel fans are already salivating at the thought of a similar series for them. Personally, I've still got dreams of a Star Wars series, as unlikely as that is. Nevertheless, although I'm not particularly a DC fan, I've found these minifigures to be exceptionally interesting and awesome.
The DC universe has a nice mix of characters, but they certainly aren't as varied as Marvel's. Although there are some nice characters here, I can't help but feel another DC series was a little unnecessary. Sure it has given us some nice new elements, but I doubt they will have much use beyond the characters here, apart from appearing in future DC sets.
The individual standard of each figure is exceptional. Dual-moulded elements are prevalent throughout the selection and many minifigures incorporate printed arms or legs, maintaining absolute fidelity to their respective source materials. Some interesting new accessories are also available here, although their versatility falls short of other recent series.
I'm a massive DC Comics fan, so this series feels like a dream to me. There are a few glaring omissions such as the lack of Catwoman, and I think I would've liked a lot more iconic villains like Lex Luthor, or even obscure characters such as Dr. Leo Quintum from All-Star Superman (my favourite Superman story), but I'm pretty happy with the lineup.
The expansive DC universe features myriad fun characters and 71026 DC Super Heroes Collectable Minifigures provides an opportunity to include some interesting examples. While certain selections for the range are slightly odd, the individual quality of these minifigures is absolutely tremendous, making brilliant use of dual-moulded elements and more extensive printed designs than ever before!
Ultimately, 71026 DC Super Heroes Collectible Minifigures is a series to be enjoyed, be that for its contents, the new trans-clear piece alone (it really is rather good) or for the simple fact that this sort of risk can be and is taken by the LEGO Group in 2019.
