71026 DC Super Heroes Minifigures Series 1 was reviewed in issue 64 of Blocks Magazine.
I've always enjoyed Lego for its high-quality plastic toys, and when I saw this CMF collection featuring DC characters, I was hyped. The roster of characters for the heroes side is great, the villains are okay. However, I think the price is not ideal seeing that some minifigures only get 1 accessory without counting the hairpiece. I think the minifigure stand is a great addition for the possibility, but $5 dollars for such a small piece count breaks the price. In my opinion, only 2 or 3 of the minifigures make the $5 mark. I hope Lego brings the price back down.
The average person on the street might not know who Mister Miracle is, but I'm glad LEGO and DC are using this series to draw attention to some of the more underrated characters in their stable.
As for the minifigures we do get in this wave, they aren't bad looking at all. Some of them are highly detailed but some are pretty plain but accurate to the source materials.
If you're a DC fan, then you're definitely going to want to pick up this entire series, as it will be a quick and easy way to add some really cool comics history to your minifigure collection. I can only imagine that Marvel fans are already salivating at the thought of a similar series for them. Personally, I've still got dreams of a Star Wars series, as unlikely as that is. Nevertheless, although I'm not particularly a DC fan, I've found these minifigures to be exceptionally interesting and awesome.
The DC universe has a nice mix of characters, but they certainly aren't as varied as Marvel's. Although there are some nice characters here, I can't help but feel another DC series was a little unnecessary. Sure it has given us some nice new elements, but I doubt they will have much use beyond the characters here, apart from appearing in future DC sets.
This minifigure certainly stands out within the selection, featuring bright red, yellow and green tones which look lovely and accurately recreate his appearance from the comics. I am particularly satisfied with the attractive cape and its prominent collar.
Ultimately, 71026 DC Super Heroes Collectible Minifigures is a series to be enjoyed, be that for its contents, the new trans-clear piece alone (it really is rather good) or for the simple fact that this sort of risk can be and is taken by the LEGO Group in 2019.
