The LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2 has continued to impressed many LEGO fans especially fans of Harry Potter. Most of the characters are very welcoming and served to complement the previous Series 1 and the other sets which are released in recent years.
if you're a LEGO Harry Potter fan, this is an excellent series that you'll want to collect. There are a few figures that might not be worth spending the dough; this version of Harry Potter is extremely forgettable and you won't miss it. You may also not need another version of Ron or Hermione, though the butterbeer mugs might make it worthwhile. The same goes for Ginny and her dish of questionable hors d'oeuvres. Pretty much all of the other figures, however, are excellent and represent rarely seen or totally new characters or include great new additions like Fawkes and the Monster Book of Monsters.
71028 Harry Potter Collectable Minifigures Series 2 undoubtedly contains several impressive minifigures, although 71022 Harry Potter Collectable Minifigures Series 1 remains superior in my opinion. The earlier series introduced the new medium legs which was exciting but I think the selection of characters was better as well, deviating substantially from existing sets when that original series was released.
LEGO have done a really good job with Harry Potter Series 2, building on the success of the first series, and applying learnings about what didn't work well. Overall, I'm pleased that they got rid of the “chase minifigure" nonsense of the first series where there was only 1 Percival Graves per box which upset a large swath of LEGO fans.
Licensed series of Collectable Minifigures provide an excellent opportunity to include some characters who would be unlikely to appear in standard sets. 71028 Harry Potter Collectable Minifigures Series 2 certainly takes advantage of that possibility with Lily and James Potter as well as these versions of Luna, Hermione and Ron. However, I think the accessories are even more appealing in certain regards, especially where Fawkes and the Sword of Gryffindor are concerned.
