This is a gift for my grandson 8 yrs old for Xmas. I know he will be thrilled !
The mini scavenger vehicle is a nice addition and is reminiscent of what was seen on a few occasions in the animated series. All four of the minifigures are perfect, in my opinion, as they do represent the characters in the show nicely.
This is a pretty cool-looking vehicle that Star Wars fans who like building with LEGO will really enjoy. It's based on the Disney XD series LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, so kids who are familiar with that show will like bringing the vehicle and characters from it to life through this construction set. They'll like all the moving parts that take this one vehicle into multiple vehicles to allow kids many different ways to play out their favorite scenes from the show or their own storylines with the Freemaker family.
I've actually seen a number of negative reviews for this particular set, so I really wasn't expecting a whole lot. This thing blew me away with how cool it really is! With all my Lego sets on display on the wall, I find myself grabbing this and playing around with it more than any other set I own. The figures are good quality and totally appropriate to the set. The folding cargo bay and detachable excavation walker are super cool! Plus, just the general look and design of the ship is great. It's NOT supposed to be sleek or flashy; it's an industrial ship! I'm glad Lego made this set, it's a lot of fun!
LEGO Star Wars sets are normally hit-and-miss but this is definitely a miss. The build itself looks pretty bad. The minifigures are okay but the selection size is rather small for the price and I can't see non-fans of The Freemaker Adventures choosing these over another set like 75139 or 75171. The playability is mediocre as there's no innovative or standout one, unlike sets like 75187 or 75106. The price-to-part is okay, but the ship itself is rather small and the overall quality is pretty low, so the value is lacking. Not impressed, LEGO. I don't recommend this set.
You'll need to look at the recoloured and special pieces and the minifigures to see if it's worth it for the parts, but I don't think it's a must-buy for display or play. At this price there are a ton of other sets with more play features or a better looking build. Your love of Star Wars and spaceships will have to be what sways you!
I have never found LEGO's original Star Wars creations to be very impressive but this is by far the worst yet. The StarScavenger looks absolutely awful and feels even worse when being flown around as the panels wobble to a ludicrous degree. The minifigures, on the other hand, are excellent. They will appeal to those who watch the show but their unique outfits are also valuable as they could easily be used for generic inhabitants of the Star Wars universe.
