A fun build I did over the course of 2 nights in short sessions. Great minifigs and the tie fighter itself looks great in shape and scale. It feels hardy. I'll let my toddler handle it tomorrow under my supervision until I get nervous and take it away and give him something he can't take apart. The missle launchers shoot far, I was surprised the first time I let it rip. Gotta remember that. Glad it came with an extra middle. Great value and it looks good. Would definitely recommend!

If LEGO's going to continue to release TIE's every year or so, then they've pretty much perfected the formula with the 2018 TIE and this year's. I don't think TIE fatigue has necessarily set in yet, but I could see another set or two exactly like this within the next 6 years really sealing that feeling in. However, for this model, I find it inoffensive enough and a pretty classy looking ship.

As a straight one-to-one comparison, it's hard to argue that these two new versions of the iconic X-wing and TIE fighter are inherently superior in design terms versus their larger predecessors from 2018. But there is much to love about both, not least of which is the radically improved S-foil mechanism on the X-wing. But perhaps what makes both of these sets actually great — shaping and scale issues notwithstanding — is their lower price point.

The cockpit looks relatively large but features excellent detail which continues inside. Furthermore, these three minifigures are superb and I am very impressed with this addition to the Imperial navy, especially given its remarkably reasonable price.
