Great set. Figures have detailed torsos and faces but Legs are just plain black. Rhino is an awesome build, highlight of the whole set. The transporter/Train is pretty basic, but has a fun play feature. Definitely not worth 42NZD, I've seen Lego sets for half the price that have more pieces or around the same. Otherwise, I recommend it for fans of LEGO and Black Panther
All in all, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this set. While the mine cart section might not be the most interesting build in the world, the rhino more than makes up for it. You also get a nice group of minifigures, as well as a pretty great selection of parts for those looking for something with life beyond its initial build.
The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Rhino Face-Off by the Mine (76099) is a decent set. The armored/mechanical rhino is one of the main draws of of the set along with the three minifigures. The mining track is a bit small and somewhat insignificant compared to the rhino however we do get a couple of the new track pieces and is currently the cheapest way to get them.
The centerpiece of the Face-Off by the Mine is the very cool rhino. Moveable limbs and head, two stud shooters and plenty of space up top for Okoye to ride, while carrying her spear. Black Panther is one this year's most talked about and celebrated Marvel movies - kids will love recreating their favorite scenes from the film and getting involved in their own Lego Marvel adventures.
I think this is a nice set. The rhino build is nice and the minifigure selection, despite their unprinted legs, is good with so many named characters. Playability of the rhino is good but the minecart has little playability. Price is good in the U.S. and the UK but I think it's not as good in Australia and New Zealand – it's not bad, but I wish it was as good as the U.S. and UK prices.
This is a set that's definitely aimed at younger builders, who will appreciate all the small little play features and the posable Rhino, which is plenty of fun, but for adult LEGO fans, it leaves a lot more to be desired. Apart from the Rhino, it has almost zero display value and in scenarios like these, you can usually rely on the minifigures to make up for the models, but Okoye and Black Panther are a let-down for fans who yearn for movie-accurate minifigures and LEGO sets.
I had high expectations for 76099 Rhino Face-Off by the Mine and am very satisfied with the completed set. The armoured rhinoceros is the highlight for me, including plenty of subtle detail without relying too heavily on stickers. Certain areas of the model could perhaps have been improved but the issues are minor and most relate more to the source material than to the LEGO design, assuming its design is faithful to the movie.
