LEGO Neighborhood Book 2

This is more of an accompaniment to the first book rather than a stand alone. Keep in mind this feels more like an inspiration book rather than a "show you how it's done" example book. Build instructions are generally limited to small builds like the piano as pictured in the sample pictures. Techniques and ideas for building the general structures may be mentioned and pictured but it's up to the reader to use their imagination and available parts bin. This is not to say it as a bad thing but it's worth noting if you had different expectations about what this book is about. more less

For those that do not yet own either of these books, if you are looking for a nice coffee table book to inspire you, I would recommend this latest book. For those looking for lots of design options, instructions and guided support via bases with customizable facades, I would recommend the 2014 book as your first buy. Of course, these two books work really well as companion volumes. more less

I've always admired modular buildings but I've never actually built one, purely for the fact I don't have the space to display them and I'll want them all. However I appreciate the creativity poured into this much loved style of building, especially when it's integrated into vast displays and it's something shared by the Brian and Jason. Their ideas are presented well and can be easily followed. I also like how the book gives you instructions to create the building on the front of the book. more less

Fans looking to expand their own modular building techniques could do worse than adding The LEGO Neighbourhood Book 2 to their bookshelf. It contains some nice examples of minifigure scale buildings and some nice little accessory builds, despite including some material that feels like padding. more less
