This is a fantastic book! First, the designs and creations throghout the book are beautiful and full of details. The instructions are accurate and easy to follow. And finally, and most important to me personally, Jeff's builds were just the kick in the pants I needed to start building with my own collection again. If you're an adult fan of Lego, this book is worth owning for the aesthetics of his builds alone, but as I said, they're also terrific pieces of inspiration. If you're the parent of a lego fan, this book might well help extend that wonderfully creative time in your child's life just a bit longer by giving them an example of the creations they can conjure up with more practice and time.
This is a great book. Pretty enough that you could set it on your coffee table and wow anyone who picks it up, yet useful enough that nearly any AFOL should be able to find some great ideas inside. I fully intend to start recommending this book to builders who are interested in how to get started with microscale models.
The book is well presented with excellent photography of the builds and clearly shows how some of the details are created. Just flicking through it's pages will have you looking at LEGO elements in completely different ways. Roller skates suddenly become cars, a collection of 1×1 studs can become vast woods and a simple 1×2 brick can become the foundations of an epic skyscraper. No Starch seem to have a knack of finding these amazing builders and turning their skills into unique and interesting books.
Anyone looking for some tips on microscale construction, or looking for some delightful display pieces to put together, should consider picking up LEGO Micro Cities. With 187 pages of building instructions and inspiration, the tiniest type of brick building is well represented here.
