I'm a grown up, I have no kids. I just liked the Lego movie so much, I had to get this as soon as it was out of theaters (because none of my friends would watch it with me in a theater). This movie is hilarious, tons of Batman references and frankly a lot of mature humor (I don't mean explicit, just that it would probably fly over a kid's head). Will Arnnett is really great in this, great execution and perfect comedic timing. We got to see a little bit of Superman, which I hope we will see again in the future.Definitely worth a watch for both adult and children, it was a great follow up to the Lego Movie even though it's not really a sequel and more of a spin-off.
The LEGO Batman Movie loses some of its impact simply because The LEGO Movie came first. Instead of upping the ante, it's content to merely ride the purple coattails of its predecessor, swapping innovation for a story that might not be full of surprises, but is still entertaining enough to be worthwhile.
I definitely came out of the theatre grinning from ear to ear and recounting all the best jokes in the film although, The LEGO Movie is still my benchmark for a balanced film. Now I know why The LEGO Movie Directors Phil Lord, Chris Miller were such hot property after that movie came out. Don't get me wrong, The LEGO Batman Movie by Chris McKay still does a fantastic job and the kids are still going to love it but somehow it just falls slightly short of the magic that was created by The LEGO Movie in 2013.
