I really enjoyed building the set, it was never boring or laboured, apart perhaps for having to line up the 1x1 tiles on the seats. It has lots of interesting and realistic features and details. You have a feeling, while building it, of 'no expense spared' on parts, which isn't usually the case with regular retail sets. There is also lots of interesting parts usage throughout which helps keep the build entertaining. It's not without its faults, though: I'm not convinced the stickers on the 1x3x3 slope window pillars work particularly well but I guess there was no alternative. Also, it's a shame about the gear stick having its movement restricted by the steering wheel. A smaller wheel, or shorter gear stick would probably solve this problem.

I'm not usually a LEGO builder- my oldest son is a big fan and an expert builder. I saw this on several automotive themed outlets and opined that this would be one LEGO set I'd enjoy- so he bought it for my 52nd birthday! I had a ball assembling it, I'm quite impressed with the level of attention to detail and I'm proudly displaying it alongside my collection of new MINI collectibles (I'm a proud owner of a new MINI Clubman S). Now, I'm thinking about that VW Microbus...

I had a blast putting this together--I never really played with Legos as a kid, but now that I'm heading into Seniorville I'm ready to make up for lost time! This was my first kit and although it is labeled "expert," I didn't have any trouble with assembly. It's like putting together furniture from that big Swedish store that starts with an "I" and ends with an "A"--only without the back pain afterwards <grin>. So if that sounds like something you'd enjoy, by all means give one of these kits a try. I've got my eye on the VW camper next, but I really wish they'd release a teardrop trailer kit....

Since the MINI has quite a few great details, building it is never boring. After every step it's getting better and better. When you have finished the model, you really get that WOW! feeling. Choosing dark green for the bodywork gives this model the characteristic British Racing Green look.

Overall, it's a good model. A nice thing to have if you're a Mini fan. It doesn't quite achieve the dizzy heights of quality of the Camper set, though. It's still a Mini and Minis make you smile.

Well, this set falls under the AFOL-friendly Creator Expert line and I'm yet to be disappointed by one of those. No exception here: the build is intricate and enlightening, even including a useful technique I've never seen before. It makes a wonderful display model but is worth breaking up into your parts collection as it has an excellent inventory, unless you don't use Earth Green. It has loads of new parts and ones only appearing in one other set... so many in fact that there are many more great parts in this set I haven't had room to mention.

The LEGO model is good, very good. The thing is that it is always easier to list the failures than the successes, and this car has many successes. The front is beautiful, the details are many and very well done, the overall look is spectacular. The English racing green is fabulous. My personal relationship with these cars may have made me see the model in a slightly different way from a normal builder, but I recommend this set without reservation.

If you like classic cars and Minis in particular, this is a great addition to your collection. It is not built to the same scale as the older camper van or the Beetle, however. Car builders often base the scale of their models on the size of the available wheels and that also seems to be the case for this set. The model is a bit too boxy, but it shows great attention to detail and the colour combination is simply classy. The colour is also the main attraction if you are looking for useful parts for your own builds.
