Fairground Mixer

My daughter received this for her 8th birthday as it was top of her (very long) list. She spent the next 2 days completing this amazing set without me. sad face. She said it was quite challenging when fitting all the cogs together on the trailer but soon worked out how to do it. Lots of fun characters - she likes the guy feeling ill after his ride and the man on stilts. She likes to pack everything away on the lorry and show how easy it is to open up again and get the ride moving. The glow in the dark pieces work well and the ride moves smoothly. Overall a great set, hopefully more funfair rides to come. Next on her list is Tower Bridge! A++++++++++++++++++ more less

I have gotten the Lego building bug at the age of 53. The only real grip I have is the stickers, for I can't stand putting stickers on the parts. I always seem to get them crooked. I have been noticed people complaining about parts missing in their reviews. I have a tip that might help out anyone in the future buying a Lego Creative Set and that is when you open the bags of parts don't throw the empty bags out, but put the empty bags in the box that the set came in. I know this has saved my bacon not just once, but twice now on two separate builds. I thought I was missing some parts on two separate builds (Ferris Wheel and Fairground Mixer), but when I went through the empty bags the missing part was clinging inside the not so empty bag. more less

Because of its pedigree, I was very excited when the Fairground Mixer was unveiled. With that excitement came lofty expectations, and I'm happy to report I wasn't disappointed. I felt that the Midway booths and trucks could have been executed better. There weren't many advanced building techniques or pieces used in novel ways. Despite this, the heart of the set - the Fairground Mixer - was superb. The ingenuity and simplicity of the rotational mechanism made up for the other shortcomings. more less

This is a very interesting set, with lots of small models in addition to the main build. It has lots of functionality, and being able to pack up the entire fairground into two trucks provides plenty of room for play. In its packed state, the large truck is pretty fragile and you need to handle it carefully or it falls apart. more less
