Exo Suit

LEGO IDEA sets are awesome and this one is no exception. It is a really clever throwback set to all the old space series LEGO used to have. You can see on the box how awesome it looks! 2 sweet minifigs and an awesome robot turtle!!!! One thing to note though is how fragile this thing is. It uses so many small, gray pieces you will hardly believe you can actually make this set with them, but you can. It looks so cool on display but my little one gets a little frustrated while playing with it cause little pieces will break off. Amazingly cool set from IDEAS, but be careful if you plan to play with it a lot. more less

I highly suggest if you are able to get it, pick it up then or risk not being able to get it in the future at retail prices. Also if love the Exo Suit, Peter's book LEGO Space: Building the Future is a perfect complement to the set. more less

In summary, there's no doubt that this is an excellent model, perhaps the best released this year. LEGO has exceeded our expectations in terms of the content of the set which is not something that happens often. We expected the Exo-Suit and a minifig. We are given an Exo-Suit, two unique and very desirable minifigs, a turtle and more. Thank you LEGO, thank you Mark! Well done Pete, you deserve to be proud of your achievement. more less

Having now got hold of 21109 Exo Suit myself I can confirm it is beautiful to build and play with, and oozes personality. It's a small set in a shallow box with just 321 pieces (and 15 spare parts - including those valuable green airtanks!) but being a detailed build, it feels larger. I found myself needing to pay (relatively) close attention during the build, because although Mark had to tone down the degree of greebling that Pete employed, he still packed in as much as he could. A couple of times I missed parts of steps due to the general level of details covering the model, and sometimes it can take a moment of thought to figure out where some of the sub-assemblies get attached. I like it when instructions aren't completely easy. more less

Building the Exo Suit itself was a lot of fun. The build is intricate and fiddly. If memory serves, there is only one standard brick in the whole set and that was translucent yellow. This definitely isn't a set from my childhood. The finished model is highly posable, though not as playable, as the greebles have a tendency to fall off. I've read since that the mold for the robot arm elements was on the end of its lifespan, explaining the very weak clutch. This is a wonderful set. It will be a rare builder that doesn't enjoy putting this one together. I'd whole-heartedly recommend this set to anyone who is even remotely interested! more less

I'm quite pleased with the exo-suit. It looks great and was a really fun and interesting build. If you're a LEGO fan born before 1990 and enjoyed playing with some of the early space themes, this set is right up your alley. Anyone who likes mecha and robots will enjoy it too. more less

Going into this review I was a bit biased towards this set — it's the first set that I have ever begged to review, but I was very happily surprised that it was a really great set. I also realize that this set is not for everyone, but for those Space fans or those that are nostalgic for that classic space — this is a rare treat. more less
