Research Institute

I ordered this for my niece for Christmas. I love that this is a science themed set, but shows several different areas of science (chemistry, astronomy, archeology, etc). As a physicist, I try to get STEM related toys for my nieces and nephews, and I think she will absolutely love this, and hopefully it will inspire her to go into a STEM field. more less

I feel like this set is a piece of LEGO Ideas history, it's the one that baffled with popularity, it held a message and gave us some variety. I'd love to see more specialized themes in LEGO, ones that aren't firemen and cake shop vendors, something you could put on a bookshelf just for display even if you're not a regular builder. I don't think the set was targeted primarily at children, but I feel it could work quite well as a play set. The build is simple and instantly recognizable. more less

The completed set is a fine ensemble. All three of the scientists feature unique torsos and give good portrayals of female scientists. The vignettes would make nice displays together or separately, adding to the appeal of an otherwise small set. This is a great little set! I recommend that if you have any interest in minifigs, you pick up a copy now, as they are already starting to disappear from shelves. more less

believe that part of the conflict with this set resides with its two names; originally calling it the Female Minifigure Set caused some hot discussion, however changing its name to Research Institute does not describe the set accurately. A research institute would be a Creator modular building. This set has the senior researchers that would be employed in such an institute or university. Taking that into consideration, this is a great set. more less

This set is a lot of fun and will probably be within my personal Top 10 sets this year. I really hope that LEGO will rapidly address availability issues and deal a sharp blow to the speculators and hoarders who bought this set to turn a quick profit. In my humble opinion, profiteering off toys and manufactured scarcity have no place in LEGO and is something I really detest. more less

I like the set and highly recommend picking up 21110 Research Instituteiconfrom the LEGO Shop once it's back in stock. Pick it up for anybody in your life (especially kids!) who loves LEGO. This set is a great one for me because it features “real" life jobs that are fascinating, engaging, and fun regardless of which gender-box you pick on the census form. more less
