My brother and I are both avid LEGO fans, and he picked this set up to build while I built the Amelia Earhart plane. The main build is fairly large, and I love how the knees were designed, even without articulation. The arms allow for a wide range of poses, and I currently have it on my shelf holding the little alien. It has some fun techniques and instructions, and was a blast to put together.
Space fans young and old are sure to like 31115 Space Mining Mech. Although not all three mechs are as amazing as each other, it's still impressive that the designers have made three distinct models from the same range of parts. The only slight criticism comes in the absence of minifigures, which isn't noticeable if this model is for display, but fans playing with the little aliens might be disappointed that they can't have close encounters of the brick kind.
I think this is a great set, it's a solid selection of parts, the models are varied (within a clear theme) and each one is pretty cool, it's fun and funny too. If buying, I'd be inclined to wait for an inevitable discount, but I would probably be happy to buy it at full price to make an order up to a qualifying threshold for a GWP.
This set is for people who love the main model. Otherwise, wait for it to go on sale or spend your hard-earned cash on another awesome kit.
