I'm so surprised at how popular this game was with my 5 and 7 year-old nephews. They loved putting it together, and then the game itself was really fun to play. It's kind of like a little kids "Battleship", where you're trying to guess the other person's secret color code. Super fun, and we played it every morning while waiting for their parents to get going.I wound up gluing the hinge of the little treasure chests, becuase the boys would pull off the lid every time they opened up to look. Other than that, it was a pretty sturdy game.
I would say this set is a jewel, not that it is a great game, but that it is a well-designed model that can be used to play a game in the pirates spirit, and its parts inventory is very interesting!
