I think LEGO took it a step up with this year's holiday exclusives with the Christmas Train (40138) from last month and the Gingerbread House (40139) this month. The part counts are pretty much double from last year while the amount for a qualifying purchase remains the same. The only thing that was missing from this year's sets are minifigures but I think that is perfectly fine.
It's still a great little set really and the 1×1 dark green studs, 1×4 nougat brick-effect pieces and a solitary 2×2 round flat tile in aqua (you can't see that one on the box but oh yes, it's there) make the brick haul decent too. What I would have to say I like the most about it though is the concept. It's such a wonderful little idea and after the seasonal sets that all sold out before I even got to see one, this is perhaps the icing on the cake for what has been the best year I've witnessed for small exclusive sets.
Look...before you go thinking bad about LEGO and think they are the ones charging $50 for this tiny set...get your info straight first...This as offered as an exclusive set for people that spent at least $100 at the LEGO site during a certain time period....LEGO never once put this set up for sale....it is an exclusive set...never was meant to be re sold...so you now have an opportunity to purchase the set here..not at LEGO for yes..a much higher price.....that is normal for exclusive or retired LEGO sets.....this set will never lose its value..again..it is an exclusive set..if you don't like it once you get it..save it til next Christmas and sell it for double what you paid...as a LEGO collector....I know it will def hold its value
