Shorthair Cats

I think LEGO struck the balance just right with the designs of the shorthair cats – and I don't say that as a cat person! I really like how prominent the whiskers, and great use of colours – the yellow and pink accents against the grey is particularly pleasing. more less

Unlike the dogs, the cat version is a little more generic. Although Shorthair is a breed of cat, they can vary vastly in their appearance. However, British Blue is a common colour, which I assume is the inspiration for these BrickHeadz versions. The darker grey is broken up thanks to the use of a slightly lighter grey around the face and chest area. I love how well the Wolverine claws work for the whiskers on both cats. more less

I do like the LEGO BrickHeadz Shorthair Cats (40441) a bit more than the German Shepherd more to the fact that I think they're more cuter. The builds are very similar down to the baskets but with changes to the detailing in respect to the animals. The basket itself is worse since the corners aren't connected well and have a tendency to fall off. more less

In the end the sets themselves are cute (well, for BrickHeadz) and will certainly please kids who love animals, but AFOLs who want to expand their collection with new parts will certainly pass on these sets. more less

These are an interesting addition to the BrickHeadz series, which has come a long way since the likes of 41585 Batman. I think both of them look like the animals they are trying to portray, which is no mean feat given the size and constraints of the BrickHeadz standard. I'd like to think that more cat colours and dog breeds will be forthcoming but on the other hand I suspect that they are a bit too niche to warrant a whole series of them. more less

Feline fanatics are sure to love 40441 Shorthair Cats, and it's the type of model perfect for somewhere you would like a reminder of your cuddly companion. One thing that does limit this model slightly is the singular colour scheme. more less
