Goldfish

I was initially quite apprehensive about the Goldfish as they're near-identical but they turned out much better than I expected, with their cute :O expressions and bright orange colours making them look really striking, especially when you place them on display. more less

Both the Goldfish and Budgie BrickHeadz sets were really fun to build and definitely worth their price in plastic. Hat's off to another round of enjoyable, adorable and playable LEGO sets that both kids and adults are sure to enjoy. more less

The LEGO BrickHeadz Goldfish (40442) is the most simplest set out of the four in the new Pets line. The build doesn't have much going on to it but the details are are sufficient enough to show what the animals should be. The base does have more detailing than the others ones so that's an extra. I'm not sure why LEGO didn't do it for the other ones because they do enhance the set even if it's just something small. more less

Regarding BrickHeadz Pets in general, I love the idea of creating a series of animal builds but I find it a lost opportunity they went with BrickHeadz. I would much rather see this idea being used for more realistic-looking animals. BrickHeadz are fun and all, and seeing I have over 20 over them I clearly see the appeal in the theme, but I see it more as caricature versions of characters from different franchises. It also works within the Seasonal sets, since the animals here are characters in some sense as well. They are also a lot simpler than these builds. With 'normal' animals, I'd rather go realistic. more less

As you've probably noticed I'm a big BrickHeadz fan and I welcome innovations like those introduced with the pets range to keep the theme fresh and interesting. These two sets are certainly better than I thought they'd be when I first saw pictures on the boxes, which don't do them justice at all. more less

A BrickHeadz goldfish is probably not that high up on people's most-wanted lists, but there's a real charm about 40442 Goldfish. It's cute, it's stylised, it's a fun build and it looks good on the shelf. If you happen to own real goldfish, or are a fan of underwater life in general, then this would be a great set to add to your aquatic collection. For others with some spare change, looking for a quirky alternative, or maybe just entering the world of LEGO BrickHeadz, this is a set that's worth splashing out on. more less
