CLAAS XERION 5000 TRAC VC

This is not an average LEGO building set, it is a more advanced building set and is for the technically minded builder. It comes with a huge detailed instruction book. which you are gonna need as well as some patience. A great project for possibly two enthusiasts of Power Function Lego sets. more less

To summarize how I feel about this set is pretty easy. I love it! This set has everything a proper Technic set should have. Stunning looks and lots of great functions. Not sure if this is the best Technic set ever, but it is the best Technic set I ever reviewed. more less

I'm an avid RC airplane builder for about 6 years and have been assembling RC car kits for many years before that, I stumbled across the lego technic line here on amazon and was so impressed with the videos I saw of them on YouTube I decided to give this build a shot. Being my first lego build ever I found this extremely enjoyable and honestly quiet simple if you take your time and enjoy the build. The build took me about 16 hours, the first 11 I did straight! lol I was so hooked I couldn't stop ( I also couldn't feel my back after either lol). Again being in the plane hobby for years we don't get direction manuals like this, Color, detail, simple, and once completed this tractor is simply beautiful to look at and show off! I just ordered the Porsche kit for my next project, happy building! more less

The Claas Xerion 5000 is a brilliant set. Despite a few niggling issues, it's a very satisfying build and there's something here to please everyone: it's a great model to play with or just have on display; Technic fans get a huge array of parts to employ in their own models; and it sets a great challenge for modders to motorise and improve in different ways. more less

This is a model of two halves. The tractor is a fantastic looking model that closely resembles the real thing. The variable steering mechanism within it is an incredible feat of Technic engineering that works very well. Construction is varied and interesting. I really cannot find fault with it. I am not so impressed with the logging arm though. It's a bit big and bulky, has restricted movement and relies too much on manual intervention for its operation. It's not really up to the same standard of design and operation as the tractor. Of course, something like it needed to be included in the set to provide playability and I suppose it's more interesting than a plough, thresher or seeder or something, but I think the model looks better without it. more less

I found the unusual techniques quite refreshing and interesting and they kept me guessing how everything was going to work together. I found myself making lots of small mistakes during the build, I'm not sure if that was due to an increase in complexity or simply because I was tired (I tend to build only late at night). The changeable steering mechanism is awesome and something I've never seen on a Technic model before. more less
