At 827 pieces and ~$70, this mid-tier Lego Technic set is great value for money. I was pleasantly surprised by the size and heft of the finished model. In terms of build techniques, I really liked how the winch achieves two different speeds for winding and unwinding. The lifting mechanism was also fun to put together. The track system is solid and the individual suspension on each track is a nice touch. The weight of the loader is well distributed across the tracks and it has no issues with its balance when lifting payloads. The only complaint I have, and it is a small one, is that the tracks tend to slip when moving the loader on a smooth surface such as a table top. On the flip side, the loader has no issues on coarser surfaces like carpets, etc. It should also be noted that the bags the parts come in are not numbered. It's a fun build with good instructions; and, it took me around 4 hrs to put it all together. Overall a great set -- I highly recommend it!
Very solid build! Three main mechanics, the loader, the cockpit and the tracks, are fun and meaningful. And just the right size. I wish Lego continues to make more construction and agricultural equipment (one John Deere Brand or CAT perhaps, for the US customers? :)) and price them right around $75 to $90. To me that is the sweet spot for decent amounts of mechanics and perfect overall size, not too big/small. If they can also sort and label the bags that would be flawless, just a suggestion not a complaint. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys industrial equipment Legos.
This medium sized set perfectly shows what the Technic theme is all about. It combines the looks with a handful of nice features. It does not have interesting new parts, but the features and aesthetics make up for this. This set definitely gets my nod of approval.
The set is fun to build as the construction process is entertaining.
While a Tracked Loader may not be as glamorous a vehicle as a Porsche or a Power Boat, this is definitely a set that encapsulates everything LEGO Technic should be. Fun to build, well integrated play features, great looking model and all at a price that will not break the bank.
I really like it! It's an interesting machine, something that hasn't been produced in Technic before, and which looks tough enough to tackle anything the forest can throw at it.
