This figure lets kids build the character with the classic Bionicle skeletal structure and comes with the "mask of power" that pops on to the figure and an evil skull spider for conflict play because, it too can take control of the protector of fire-as chaos ensues.
These were bought by my grandson who has almost every character that has come out so his building skills are excellent.
Bionicles are great. My nieces and nephews love them, particularly ages 5-12. They like to make the kits but also mix and match. Then they play with the toys they made to have battles.
This guy is a real toss-up. On one hand, I love the torso build, it's well armored and looks great. I like the legs, and the shoulder mounted launcher. But the arms are very strange and awkward, the color scheme has too many different shades of yellow/orange (they should have given him more red armor and kept only one color of trans plastic), and his arm mounted weapons are equally as awkward thanks to his arms. He's a fun build, but he wouldn't be my first choice of Protector.
In the end, I'm not sure I'd buy this set if given the chance. If I was interested in purchasing a single Protector or just a few of them, I'd leave him out. Unless one is super interested in the powered-up form for their Tahu, I'm not sure the Protector of Fire is worth it.
The Protector of Fire has two roles in this world: Completing your collection and providing weapons for Power Up mode Tahu. It is not the best to play with, but it is very pretty to look at if you ignore everything else about it.
I say, go for it. The shoulder-mounted blaster is probably one of the easier ones to use and who doesn't love the red and transparent orange colour scheme? There's just something about his squat body and substantial armour that screams 'warrior'.
