My grandson loves these things. I was upset with the fact that it is very overpriced and was delivered with a box that was crushed and not the lease sturdy I ordered three and had to return one because the box was a real mess
Today I recently bought Skull warrior, and wow was I surprised at how much I would like this set unfortunatly, where I live the set was pretty expensive, and shop@home doesn't ship here let me get started Build: a nice easy build, the complexity comes from the bow and gearbox, and I appreciate the complexity. Pros: -New parts The new parts are absolutely amazing, the bone piece is a solid piece, it feels strong too, the staff piece is another really cool part, with a lot of detail gone into it the chest plate is really nice, along with the recolour of the small HF torso in silver, which is a really nice inclusion for all the sets the best piece in this entire set to me personally, is the amazingly detailed mask, the infected mask of ice looks cool too I am also a sucker for trans blue -The Weapons the spear itself is nothing special, but I do like the piece used now, the bow this bow is awesome, I love the parts Lego used for it, and the inclusion of the trans blue blaster is nice too A nice amount of parts I can use for MOCing too :P -The Execution of the idea this is meant to be part of an army of warriors, and I think that looks nice, it does fit as an army building set, which is super cool I like CONS: -Trans Orange this really annoys me on slicer, warrior, and scorpio of course, haven't gotten the rest of the sets due to the previously mentioned price issues I have here in malta (yes I know, it says I live in italy, but there is no option for other :P) but the orange really doesn't fit it, except for the eyes I get it, the orange represents them being revived or something but it really doesn't look good on it -red pins Dangit lego, I know you still produce them in black, so why don't you use them on more sets :P Final Verdict: I didn't mention the gearbox because by now, everyone knows its a great edition to this line, and I commend Lego for it Also, can someone tell me whats with the random pin in the chest? Is it for the combo model? I really wish I could get all these sets for cheap, or buy them on Shop@home, but hey at least I got the set I give it an 8/10, probably the second/third best set of the summer wave.
Skull Warrior is by far the most basic villain this year as far as his build and function are concerned, but that doesn't make him a bad set by any means. His Trans. Light Blue and Trans. Fluor. Reddish Orange color scheme is extremely eye-catching, his asymmetric design keeps his build from becoming boring, and his choice of two weapons (a stud-shooting bow for ranged combat and a long spear for close-quarters combat) makes him well suited to various types of action play. His weapons are even designed so that whichever weapon he isn't using at the moment can be mounted on his back—a handy feature, to be sure.
I don't know. On one hand, I want to say it's too simple, and too generic, but I can't fault a set for doing all of the basic things right, and Skull Warrior does. It does all the boring things we've seen a few times already and knocks them out of the park, with a great, vibrant colour scheme, and cool masks. I like it. I really do.
The Skull Warrior set is a pretty good set at $15, it can serve as a basic mook for Master sets to fight against, especially if you have the money to buy a couple of them. I guess you can overlook the issue of it falling on its back if envision your Master sets can mow them down by the dozens by the Law of Inverse Ninja Strength.
For an introduction to the summer wave, Skull Warrior is solid. That said, he's also probably the most basic of any of the villains, which is why it seems he's been relegated to platoon status in the summer animations. However, what he lacks in uniqueness, he makes up for in being so typically and quintessentially "BIONICLE" that it's hard not to love him. Crazy colors, but with a lot of silver and big weapons. The boys are back in town.
If you want a skull villain that actually looks like they just rose from the ground, Skull Warrior is the one for you. He has a good choice of weapons, an effective function that doesn't interfere with poseability or the look of the set, weapon storage, an awesome mask, and a striking color scheme. He is the "ice villain" of the wave in a sense, and of course if you want the new Akaku for your Kopaka this is the guy to obtain for that bonus. Parts wise you'll get five of the new silver bones and a silver torso bone, plus trans light blue bones and the new chest armor. Overall one of my favorites of the wave. He lives up to the undead name, can easily be used a generic army builder, and has a good build. I'd definitely recommend making this one of the first grabs of the wave.
