My 10 year old daughter enjoyed the set, and was able to put it together herself just fine. Granted, she's been building Lego sets for a while, but it seems straightforward enough that perhaps younger children could do it too - there's really only one way to put it together. I like the concept of themed sets, but personally I always preferred using my imagination with regular blocks to make things. Most of the kids that we encounter these days, though, (cousins, friends, nieces and nephews) like the this kind where it's already designed for them. The toys are pretty stable, but if you plan on using them as action figures, and your child doesn't have interest in building them more than once, I suggest using some super glue to hold it together because it will fall apart when you move it around.
Ah the long awated set. but how does it stack up? Lets find out. Pros: Ekimu: Protector build Gear box!( a beutiful example of pushing the gear box to its limits and still working!) Hammer gun Shield Two masks Mask of creation: Detail Iconic Gold Neat little stand Skull grinder: Weapons Color scheme New bone piece Horns Mask New shell Back armor Cons: Ekimu: Balanceing No back armor Mask of creation: May be too detailed for some Stand could of been built better, mabye use a head on a ball peice still ont the rod and round peice Skull grinder(Oh Boy) The gear box!!!!!!!! Lego, you coud of just added two more gears to each side and it would be much better. Weapon is too heavy Balanceing Horns like to pop off Over all, thru all my complaints i like this set. my biggest qualm is with Skull grinder's gear box. again, easy fix that would only be 8 more peices. But this is a must have, i can definetly reccomend it.
These two figures represent a clash between good and evil, so they're perfect for staging and playing out epic battles. The battle arms features add to the action, and the articulation makes them very posable, which is great for displaying.
While the set as a whole is significantly larger than other sets this year, the included figures are not necessarily comparable to classic “titan" sets—Ekimu is only slightly larger and more complex than $10 sets like the Protector of Fire, while Kulta is about the same size as the $20 Tahu but significantly leaner (being a skeleton and all).
This was a really fun set to build and explore the play features for. None of the other sets this year have a true conflict other than a dinky little Skull Spider, so pitting two powerful beings against one another in the same box is a big plus. There are three new masks, one of which is highly desirable. The models look great standing tall or clashing in a brawl. The set gives exactly what it promises, and it is what fans deserve.
The set stands out as arguably the best of Wave 2, what with having actual combatants (a feature now missing in the Wave 2 medium sets, given each set up to this point had at least one Skull Spider to fight off) and a highly exclusive mask to have. For $30 USD, it's easily a good deal all around. I'm tempted to pick up a second just to fix my Ekimu's back armor. And to get another Mask of Creation.
Does BIONICLE's "finale" set deliver? You betcha. That said, it's definitely not for people who were expecting a lone figure for the price point; while each figure iterates very well on the previous styles we've seen, neither transcends what we've come to expect. In light of all the included elements, though, it's an easy set to appreciate; the color schemes are top-notch, the various pieces they use give it a lot of personality, and the Mask of Creation makes its grand debut. It might not be what we're used to in terms of larger BIONICLE sets, but it's worth owning for what it is, and has plenty of fun to offer.
Last year, I told you to go buy Gali immediately after reading my review. I'm going to tell you to do that again. This set is awesome. The Mask of Creation is a strong selling point, but you also have Ekimu who is a really great protector build, with a great look, a simple but nice function, and a good set of weapons. Kulta is the largest of the villains, and has a cohesive color scheme, with a great mask and a very imposing staff. It's a battle in a box and, in my opinion, has the strongest protector-sized build of the year and one of the better villains of the wave. So, yeah, go buy this.
