Ketar, Creature of Stone, is a fairly decent set with good play value and functions. It's color scheme is okay, but sometimes the lime green clashes with the other colors for it being such a small set. He is a scorpion-like creature with 4 legs and 2 large swords for stingers, and... well, posing is pretty difficult with this set. It's hard to get him to do much because he relies on these... "pinchers" for legs and sometimes it doesn't really work out, especially if you don't use his stingers for extra balance. However, Ketar redeems himself with a pretty cool function: upon swinging his tail from left to right his stingers will strike down and attack anyone in his path. He also does create a neat silhouette when united with Pohatu. So, if you're a Pohatu fan or just like scorpions then this set is for you, but there are definitely better creatures out there.
Is Ketar a bad set? No, not at all. He's imperfect, but he's something different from the cut-and-dry Bionicle we were getting towards the end of G1. And that may be why I like him: he's delightfully odd. Sure, he's busy, and yeah, his sword-arms look better as swords on Pohatu, but he's got character.
Ketar is a decent figure on his own. He's a good size, I like his colors, and he's got a good amount of new and recolored parts when compared to the other creatures in the wave. He could possibly be one of the best standalone creatures, I just wish that his function wasn't so floppy, and maybe if his tail could bend forward more it might help with creating some more dynamic poses.
Ketar is a really rough set. While I like the idea they were going for with the gear function (and this bodes well for other creatures) the rest of his construction feels slipshod and rushed. The tail has a lot of unnecessary colors, the various armor pieces are just lazily attached, and in the end, he's not even good as an augment to Pohatu. Thankfully he has some good parts included (like two of those blades) but it's not enough to recommend picking him up. The stone buddies get the short end of the stick this year, but hopefully they don't take it as a sign to abandon the color entirely.
